Mustache Cupcakes

The Story:

For men over 40, a mustache is fine.  But for all the boys who attend my college and have a mustache, it means you don’t want a date.  It just looks creepy and no one take you seriously, sorry boys!

So for father’s day, bake up some cupcakes (your papa’s favorite) and stick a mustache on it to give him a good laugh.  I used chocolate molds, but you can use fondant, melted chocolate piped onto wax paper and then cooled, or even construction paper!  Kids would have a ton of fun cutting out their own mustaches.  Then stick them on to serve!

Mustache Cupcakes

Yield: 24 Cupcakes

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake:
1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
3 eggs
1/2 cup oil
3/4 cup milk or buttermilk
3/4 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4-5 cups powdered sugar
Mustaches

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line pans with cupcake liners.
2. Sift cake mix into a small bowl and set aside (I like to use Pillsbury).
3. Combine eggs, oil, milk, sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Add cake mix and stir well.
5. Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full and bake for 15-20 minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean.
5. Frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese for 2 minutes. Add vanilla extract and slowly add powdered sugar until you reach your desired consistency. Add milk to thin out if needed.
6. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and top with a mustache!
