OREO Bat Cupcakes
Halloween is coming! Bust out those pumpkins, cornstalks, and cut holes in a sheet if you’re in desperate need of a costume! I shared my cute Black Cat Cupcakes a few days ago and now it’s on to OREO Bat Cupcakes! First of all, any reason to buy Oreos I’m all for! It was a miracle I had any leftover to make these cute Halloween treats! You can make these as spooky as you want using different colored M&Ms to make the eyes, for example red or yellow eyes would be very scary!
Cute Halloween Cupcakes
I love making cute cupcakes that anyone can recreate at home! No fondant or super fancy tools needed! These Oreo Bat Cupcakes totally fit the bill. You can your kids will have a blast making these at home, and depending on how you place the eyes each bat totally comes to life with their own personality. If you want to just make Oreo Bats and not even put them on a cupcake you can do that too!
My cute cupcakes liners are from Sweets & Treats! When you’re looking for cupcakes liners you’ll want to make sure they’re greaseproof or else their cute colors and patterns will all disappear in when they bake.
How to Make Bat Cupcakes with Oreos!
The major magic comes from the Oreos! I used both regular and mini snack sized Oreos to create these Oreo Bat Cupcakes. The mini Oreos make the eyes and the bat ears while the regular Oreos make the head and the wings. M&Ms come to the rescue to make little eyeballs but you can use chocolate chips or other candies you may already have on hand. Use extra frosting as “glue” to put everything together and then just stick the cookies into your frosted cupcakes! Ta-dah! And the coolest mom on the block award goes to YOU! Grab the kids and get busy making these cute Oreo Bat Cupcakes!

Oreo Bat Cupcakes
Ingredients
- 12 Cupcakes
- 1 1/2 C. Frosting
- 12 regular Oreos
- 24 mini Oreos
- 24 brown M&Ms or chocolate chips
Instructions

Frost cooled cupcakes.

Split all Oreos as carefully as possible so you don't break them. Place M&Ms on the cream side of the mini Oreos to make eyes and then use frosting to place them onto regular sized Oreos (see photos). Break a mini Oreo circle in half and use frosting to place them as ears. Press the bat "face" into your cupcake and then break a regular Oreo cookie in half to make wings and press them into the frosting!

Much more difficult than anticipated! Aside from the Oreos being extremely difficult to work with (broke easily, wings difficult to keep attached to body, etc.), I also needed an exorbitant amount of icing on the cupcakes to hold the large Oreos. Time consuming and disappointing.

These looked so adorable and doable on your post, but, oh my gosh, I have to agree with LisaO! The dang Oreos broke when trying to halve them, the mini Oreos don’t come apart nicely. My bats look like they have conjunctivitis from all the brown specks. And they took me forever to make. My grandson is only 4 so he won’t know the massive imperfections but I won’t make these again unless someone has some suggestions as to making it a lot easier.
