The Story:
Did you like my post last week about piping tips? Well guess what, there is a video tutorial to go along with it!
As a side note. the person that serenades you in the video during the intro and at the end is one of my best friends, Katie. Don’t you sort of hate her because she is so gorgeous?
I heard your little news story in the radio the other day! I’m happy your blog and business are doing well. It only makes sense that it would since I haven’t ever made a recipe of your that didn’t impress everyone. Congrats!
I just LOVE your blog, it’a so convenient and creative, LOVE the tutorial – it’s great to see who is the person behind the cupcakes and it’s very informative.
thanks! (:
What was the brand name of the piping bag? Not the best speakers on this laptop. Thanks, love your tutorials. I’m new at piping.
Ateco Flex bags. I found them at a restaurant supply store and they are my favorite!
Loved this….very helpful!
LOVE the tutorial! So professional!!
Your tutorial was very helpful. I am just starting cupcakes and could use a few pointers. I would love it if you could check out my blog: http://www.achefinthyme.wordpress.com
Lizzy,
This is so helpful. Thank you. PS Can’t wait to see you this summer;)
Both of you look absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I am jealous. I love the song she sang. What is the name? Can I able to hear the entire song somewhere?
The name of the original sing is “Shine” but this version was done by Noteworthy, an a cappella that I was in a few years ago. So technically you hear me singing too! The song is on itunes
Wow!! You can sing, too?! You can bake, write, broad cast and sing. You are so talented. I saw Noteworthy performance on youtube, today, I was impressed. You guys are so awesome.
FANTASTIC tutorial! Thank you so much! I love all the different tips, but I especially love the rose design you did!
Hi Lizzy
I was wondering where is the best place to buy the tips? I live in Hawaii so they aren’t too many options here, I checked Amazon but I didn’t find a set with all the numbers. 🙁
Thanks so much!
There are a lot of baking supply websites, just find one with the largest supply!
Lizzy,
I use your recipes like crazy! I was browsing around on your site today and found both this tutorial and your announcement. So excited for you! I don’t have a business or anything but just fell in love with baking cupcakes. The first cupcake I made back in November (fancy one that is) was your Andes Mint cupcakes. My hubby totally adores these cupcakes and wants me to make them for him to take to work. I love making people happy with cupcakes. Thanks so much for the tutorial and I cannot wait for your cookbook!!
Lizzy, I am loving all your recipes and piping tips. Any special tweak I need to do to create the rose top? It went kind of fast on the video. I, too, can not find the tips you have. I really need a large round one and the local craft stores here only carry Wilton. I have been dabbling with cupcakes for a year or so now, but have really been displeased with the piping tips that are available. I am now going to search the web, now I have some tip numbers to look for. PS I am attempting your almond Joy cupcakes for a cookout I am going to, wish me luck.
Good luck on the almond joys! They are so good! Yes, it can be hard to finr the right pipig tips unless you order online or find specialty decorating stores. Ateco #809 is the large round tip. For the rose, just start in the center and pipe a swirl out towards the rim. Practice practice practice! And then you will be a pro
OMG Lizzy, i didn’t know you were on the sing-off! I looked up “shine” cuz i love the song, and i saw you guys on the show! that’s so cool!! 🙂
This is great! Thank you so much!
Love it! And you’re really pretty too. I’m excited to try your tips this week for a baby shower! I do have a question though. Have you ever made a champagne cupcake before that uses champagne extract and not actual champagne? mine turn out grow with actual champagne. Lame…. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks!
I’ve never even had champagne, so I’m probably not the best person to ask 🙂 But just look around online and read the reviews, I know they’re popular
How do you get your liners to stay so vibrant? Do you put a white one in first? You can rarely tell what the pattern is on mine!
You need grease proof liners, I get a lot of my colorful decorated ones from http://shopsweetsandtreats.com
Loved the piping tips – I’ve been having issues piping lately and your tips were invaluable. Thanks
Oh good!

I loved that video tutorial, but honestly speaking, it is difficult to become a good pastry cool after one video lesson. Do you have a classroom maybe?
