It’s time to take back my blog.
I love sharing recipes, posting photos of cupcakes and answering buttercream questions but I want this blog to be more. I want this blog to be a part of me. I know I share little “stories” with every post but I do keep them short and sweet. I’m hoping that from now on Saturdays is when I’ll share a bigger piece of me. A real piece of me.
I say I’m “taking back the blog” because sometimes having a cupcake blog makes me change my online persona to fill this peppy, bubbly, pink-loving stereotype. But that’s not always me. I’m sassy, I’m quiet, I’m loud, I throw rants about boys, I fall in love too quickly, I’m a business woman, I over think and I’m driven to change my corner of the world. But I bet you didn’t know that, did you? Well, maybe the boy rant part…
On Saturdays I’ll be sharing a little piece of me each week. Feel free to hate it, feel free to love it, but it’s me and I know I can’t please everyone. That being said, I’m going to infuse more of myself on here to at least please me. Some of you may just come to Your Cup of Cake for the recipes so I guess you can hate this new idea OR see these new posts as recipes of Lizzy—the little things that have gone into my life to make me who I am. Will they all be deep and thought provoking? No. A lot of them will be fun facts, curly hair tips, business advice, blogger advice and more boy rants. But it will be about something I love. Something important to me.
This is my Valentine’s Day gift to myself.
Lizzie, I think this is a great idea! You are such an inspiration to women everywhere! Thank you 🙂
I’ve been waiting for curly hair tips from you! My 4-year-old daughter has long curly hair and I have no idea what to do with it!
Go girl!!!! Happy Valentine’s Day. I love your blog. (This is my first time posting a comment =(

Yes please! i love a well-rounded blog. I thrive on information and love meeting and learning from other people. Thanks Lizzy…for everything
Love 🙂
I think it takes great courage to put yourself out there for the scrutiny of others. Especially on the internet which people find it so easy to be mean and critical with their comments because of the “anonymous” factor. Keep being true to you and leave karma to the rest. 🙂
Your personality is the thing I love the most about your blog and I would’nt mind you sharing more of it… Definately yes to the change!
excited to hear the boy rants………
You go girl! It’s all of the parts of you that make you and you blog special!
Have a great time with your new adventure 🙂 And pay no attention to those who have anything negative to say…you know they will…and it really doesn’t matter all that!
Oops- I meant you and your blog so special…my bad…

Love your blog Lizzy. Thanks for all the recipes. Thinking of taking a trip to Oregon this summer, any advice?
Well it depends which part you go to. Portland is always wonderful and there’s tons to do in the city like the Saturday market, Powell’s Books, Voodoo Doughnuts, walk on the riverfront… But the coast is also GORGEOUS and the Tillamook cheese factory is amazing.
I say good for you! While I do love your recipes (all that I have made have turned out wonderfully) I look forward to getting to know more about the ‘real Lizzy’

Still, buying gifts for myself feels like self-deception. Who am I fooling? I can buy myself different things, but I’ll enjoy them far less than if I received a gift from someone close and dear to me.
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays when many people—based on my experience, mostly women—feel especially lonely and vulnerable if they don’t have a partner. A gift to yourself, whether it’s delicious food, flowers, a desired bag, or designer lingerie, can lift your mood and help you feel a bit better. If it makes someone happy to buy stockings, why not? And if it’s from a high-quality niche brand, such a purchase can truly feel like a real gift to oneself.
I enjoy that the color of this cake is different from anything I’ve ever seen. Perhaps after I learn how to make it from you, I’ll be able to experiment with more inventive cake tastes. Level devil game.
