Is there any way I can do your cupcakes Gluten-Free? I’m GF and your cupcakes look so delicious!
YES!!! This is why I do cake mixes, because gluten free cake mixes work with the recipes too! If you can’t find a red velvet GF mix, use a white mix, add a little cocoa and a lot of red dye!
I am so making these! I just put all the ingredients on my shopping list. I love that you use cake mixes! You’re amazing! <3
Aw, thank you! I love keeping things easy and simple 🙂
This looks soooo yummy! I already put all of the ingredients on my shopping list! My family is GF too and my mom has been craving red velvet! I’m so excited to make this for her! I have a question…. The Super Bowl you know is coming up and my family wants me to make cupcakes, what cupcakes do you think would knock their socks off? 🙂
Well you can always do a fun football cupcake like a hostess and piped like football threads, google it… Or you do my Butterfinger Cupcakes, those are AWESOME! Or my recent chocolate cake batter cupcakes!
Hostess cupcakes!!! That’s perfect! Thank you so much lizzy!!!
these look divine!!! i’m definitely going to make these 🙂 & that font is adorable! what is it called?
The font is called “sacramento”
My fiance would say the exact same thing – he’s convinced of his awesomeness. 🙂
Delicious!! I love it!
Looks wonderful!! Am I correct in assuming I need to buy two boxes of red velvet cake mix or am I taking a half cup from one box, to go towards the frosting?
Two boxes! But there are lots of fun things do with the leftover cake mix! Check out my Red Velvet Rice Crispy Treats http://www.yourcupofcake.com/2014/01/red-velvet-rice-crispy-treats.html
These are so beautiful Lizzy! Cupcakes are just so happy aren’t they?
Hi Lizzy! Your cupcakes are really gorgeous and so easy to make. I’m just wondering, if I wont use red velvet cake mix for my frosting, what will I use as substitute? Thank you 🙂
It was be an exact substitution because then you have to decide if you want to make a RV cake batter frosting (which is what is is using the mix) or if you just want a RV frosting. The latter is easier, so add just a little bit of cocoa powder and lots of red dye!
these cupcakes look delious! I can’t wait to make them. Thank you for all your lovely recipes. I can’t remember how I found your site but I am so happy I did. I love getting new recipes in my email.
Hi! I am just wondering if this recipe is adapted to the new cake mix sizes. I know they used to be 18 ounces, but recently just were changed to 15 ounces. Thank you! 🙂
What tip do you use to get the icing to look like your picture.
This was a 2D piping tip, though I did use a knife to spread the spokes just a little further apart
Hey! Your cupcakes are so awesome! 🙂 I’m just wondering, coz we don’t have red velvet cake mixes where I live, so I usually make them from scratch, what can I use to substitute the RV Cake mix in the frosting? Thanks! 🙂
